Implementation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Programs for Adolescents

Training

Due to the complexity and sensitivity of providing SRH care to adolescents, health providers must be trained not only to provide correct and balanced information about the use of contraceptives and the correct use of condoms, but also about healthy sexuality, avoiding stigmas, and prejudices. The available training resources are manuals and self-learning modules on how to work better with adolescents given their biological development, cultural context, and vulnerabilities. The materials follow a rights-based approach and provide awareness training for providers on issues of gender, equality, interculturality, and diversity.

In addition, we offer the tools to carry out and facilitate educational activities that, through participation, empowerment, and the strengthening of relationships between peers, promoting adolescents to make responsible decisions about their sexuality. At the end of the module there are abbreviated manuals to be used in medical consultations that have exercises to evaluate risks in the social, mental, and SRH dimensions.
